We ARE in a Crisis

Rudy C., Founder — International 25th Amendment Coalition

8.3 billion people in this world are being affected by President Trump and his war of choice in Iran. And the American people are increasingly frustrated with his lies, his protecting pedophiles, his pardoning criminals, his attempt to steal elections, his excessive ICE raids, which are leading to multiple deaths, his blowing up boats in the Caribbean, and so much more.

President Trump's cabinet and the 535 voting members in Congress can put a stop to this, but the Republicans aren't willing. It is up to us, the ever-increasing number of United States citizens who are anti-MAGA, to stop this. He is out of control, and we are at risk of going down a slippery slope towards Russian-style authoritarianism. For many Americans, this scenario is very difficult or impossible to imagine because it is happening so fast. We can't wrap our brains around the fact that this is authoritarianism here in America, rearing its ugly head. As long as he's in power, we are in danger of hitting rock bottom as a country, and that rock bottom may be worse than we imagine.

President Trump's grotesque, corrupt deals need to be dealt with. He needs to pay fines and face some minimal jail time so J.D. Vance and the rest of his cabinet see that crime does not pay. We are at a fork in the road. One path is to continue scrolling on our devices, streaming our favorite shows, sipping cool beverages, and waiting to see what happens. The other path is to grab the bull by the horns and problem-solve this thing. We must have the organization, imagination, willingness to collaborate, and bravery to make Republican members of Congress and their leadership understand that they must invoke the 25th Amendment. The American people must join together to become one massive, strong voice that can't be ignored.

The American government is made up of three branches: the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches. WE hired 2 of the three branches with our votes. And WE fund all three branches. They work for us! And the hundreds of millions of us, as well as many hundreds of millions more around the world, are so much stronger than our three branches of the federal government. Without a single act of violence, we could show them our strength. But we need that leadership, organization, imagination, and willingness to collaborate. We must be brave.

Right now, as I speak, Vladimir Zelensky and the Ukrainian people continue their years-long battle against a seasoned authoritarian. They have had to sacrifice so much: the soldiers who have been killed, the suffering through cold winters, and the kidnapping of at least 20,000 of their children. By comparison, the sacrifices we need to make are minimal… such as boycotts, demonstrations, civil disobedience, as well as fresh new strategies that meet the moment.

It can be done. We can learn from past non-violent movements like the Civil Rights movement, the worldwide boycotts against the South African regime, Women's Liberation, and Black Lives Matter. What is the modern-day version of a sit-in? What are the threats of non-violent civil action that will keep the Republicans in the House and the Senate up at night? What can we do to let them know that enough is enough?

Imagine if President Obama Did This

President Trump has thrown so many unhinged curveballs at us simultaneously that we have become numb. For example, his administration has disproportionately fired black and female government workers. What if President Barack Obama disproportionately fired white and female government workers, including military officers? The blowback would have been earth-shattering, and he would have been forced to change course immediately or face consequences — likely with his own party leading the impeachment threat.

What if, on top of that, Obama took it upon himself to demolish the East Wing and add his name to the Kennedy Center? I know, it's difficult to imagine him doing that, and I think I know why. It's because as soon as the wrecking ball knocked down a single portion of the East Wing, Congress would have put a stop to it. Both the Republicans and Democrats would have said it's a gross overreach, and if he refused to stop AND went on to add his name to the Kennedy Center, AND started an unjustified war, it would have been 25th Amendment time. It would have been a case of Obama acting so out of character that ALL would have agreed that he needs to let his Vice President take over until he recovers from whatever is causing his 'episode'. President Obama wouldn't have been shielded the way President Trump is. And the idea of Obama also continuing to deny an election and going after his political rivals and protecting a pedophile and doing all of the authoritarian things that President Trump does would have been out of the question.

Show President Trump What a Real Democracy Looks Like

So here we are. 8.3 billion people are suffering because of one man. Here in America, we have definitely felt the pain of higher gas prices and subsequent inflation that the war with Iran has caused. But in other parts of the world, oil shortages are creating dire situations… all because of one man.

So again, what are we going to do about it? The majority of the American people who voted elected him and created this mess. And many of them are regretting their decision. So let's get one thing straight. President Trump works for us. Although he and his faithful followers believe more and more each day that they can amass enough money and power to steal elections, push all of the black and brown people they don't like out of the country, and make America a Ku Klux Klan-friendly terror zone again, that's not an option. President Trump works for us. And the majority of the American people who are against this MAGA madness need to straighten their backs, puff out their chests, and say, 'No! Enough is enough!'

Let's go! Join the movement. The International 25th Amendment Coalition. Patience is not our strong suit. As Steve Schmidt says every day on his brilliant YouTube posts, 'America is in crisis.' If you believe that and want to see change as soon as possible, then let's talk.
